We are looking for a Sr. Staff level Research Engineer to help us build next generation detection of FireEye Appliances. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about solving real problems by turning cutting edge research into operational production solutions. The Sr. Staff Threat Researcher will lead a leading edge malware research, analysis (data-mining) and generate content for use in our products that enhance FireEye’s security content infrastructure, process workflow, and the malware intelligence portal. They will work with team at headquarters and other locations to support research and detection efforts.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Dissect and Reverse Engineer advanced malware and cyber attacks
  • Build and drive Roadmap for detection efficacy and Malware research operation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Anti-Malware community
  • Perform data analysis to measure efficacy and continuously thrive to improve developed solutions.
  • Evangelize the service deliverables to the partners, leadership, and stakeholders
  • Research the threat landscape to enhance FireEye’s core engine.
 
Requirements:
  • At least eight years direct or equivalent experience in areas of malware-analysis, reverse engineering and other aspects of cyber-attacks discovery including knowledge of email infection vector.
  • At least five years of experience in areas of Anti-Malware operation or advanced malware research.
  • Solid programming skills with scripting languages such as Perl or Python is required
  • Working knowledge of databases such as Postgres or MySQL
  • Experience in big data infrastructure are definite plus
  • Knowledge in Security and Malware detection technologies
  • Host based IDS/IPS knowledge and experience a definite plus
  • Experience working in fast-paced development environments
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, in English
  • One or more of the following languages (Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean) are plus

  • Public speaking skills and experience
  • Self-driven, proactive, hardworking, team-player with a good sense of humor
  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills
