The Global Head of Cyber Security Intelligence and Analytics will provide leadership across Cyber Security Operations and National Grid for the establishment and management of Cyber Security Intelligence, Threat Management and Analytics services, directing technical, social, cultural and geopolitical analysis, synthesizing disparate research of domain specialists to understand, quantify and predict the actions of threat actors to National Grid.

The role will lead a team of technical analysts responsible for developing the collection, processing, analysis and reporting of cyber threats to National Grid, the threat actors associated and their motivation, capability and intent in order that Cyber Security Operations and National Grid can appropriately assign resources and systems for their defense.

The role will lead our engagement with National Security agencies and Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISAC) to ensure the mutually beneficial flow of information in protection of Critical National Infrastructure, and the prioritized application of defense measures.  

The role will lead, manage, and direct the activities of the Cyber Security Intelligence and Analytics team. This is a global team of at least 6 individuals based in US and UK and their reports.

The role will act as a senior authority for cyber security intelligence, accountable to the Global Head of Cyber Security Operations. The role will lead in the definition, design, implementation and management of a cyber-security intelligence cycle, and the determination and management of risk to National Grid from nation state, cybercriminal and hacktivists.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Leadership and assurance of information and data analysis and production of Intelligence to protect National Grid by Cyber Security Operations tooling, providing consistent protection and detection of threats to National Grid Services and Customers, leading informed subject matter experts in mitigation of cyber attack.
  • Leadership and assurance of Intelligence acquisition capabilities, ensure tooling and processes are able to visualize the current cyber threat landscape, ensuring the associated preventative, detective and response activities are enacted to reflect agreed risk appetites and mitigation strategies enabling business opportunity.
  • Reporting to Security and Resilience committees on the Cyber Threat landscape with regard to National Grid businesses globally.
  • Protection of National Grid globally through the operation of Big Data and predicative analytics to maintain current Intelligence briefings to Operational and Senior Leadership.
  • Leading the interaction of National Grid with Government agencies, Security agencies, Regulators and industry Information sharing bodies.
  • Provide Intelligence that directs penetration, application, data and red team testing across National Grid businesses.
  • Inform the activities of the Central Operational Research Establishment for National Grid ensuring nature and finding of research informs National Grid Cyber Security Operations.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • Educated to degree level or post graduate level (equivalent combination of education and experience) in Cyber Security related subject.
  • Digital Forensic Qualifications such as ENcE, IACIS CFCE or equivalent experience.
  • Security Qualifications such as SANs, GCFE, GCIA, CCNA, CCNP (Security).
  • Knowledge of Forensic protocols and practices as well as direct experience with tooling such as Encase
  • The position requires an experienced, highly qualified, technical leader, manager and disciplined thinker, capable of working across organisational boundaries in a demanding environment, experienced in leading technical teams and peer groups to ensure that appropriate cyber security intelligence and analysis services are delivered and maintained in an optimal fashion that ensures Cyber Security detection and response capabilities can be fully leveraged at all times to safeguard National Grid’s services and ensure safety of customers.  
  • Requires demonstrable capability to lead a team that specializes in the production and management of threat intelligence, at Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels, conducting detailed technical analytics. 
  • Good organisational skills, time management, attention to detail and accuracy over multiple simultaneous activities to operate a holistic security suite of test, engineering and research services. Must be pro-active, adaptable and results driven, whilst capable of interpreting and delivering on direction provided. 
  • The position requires a team player who must be able to work under pressure, manage multiple activities, using their own initiative and motivation to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision. 
  • Leading the collection, analysis and production of cyber threat intelligence, including both automated intelligence feeds and human-consumable intelligence, with good knowledge and understanding of the systems and processes that enable this.
